ALEXIS (AKA LEXY), CERTIFIED VETERINARY TECHNICIAN
Hello!
To start off, my life has always been – animals are put first. Yours and mine.
During my childhood I grew up in Downer, MN. I spent as much time outside as I could! It was me and my dog. Out on adventures. Getting as dirty as possible (sorry mom).
Right before high school, our family moved to Franklin lake right outside of Pelican Rapids. Which meant more trees, more space and more PETS! I have always grown up with dogs, cats, hamsters & parakeets. We soon added chickens, ducks, geese and a turkey or two.
In my 10th year of high school I finally got a job at Weckwerth Animal Hospital as their first-ever kennel care attendant. Every day, before and after school, I’d faithfully care for boarding, post-surgery and hospitalized patients. On days off from school, I’d work in the clinic, assisting the technicians and doctors. This experience was extremely valuable. It allowed me to realize my calling, what I wanted for a career and I just might be good at it.
I was accepted into the veterinary technician program at Ridgewater College in Willmar, MN in 2001. I completed a 10 week internship at the MN Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Roseville, MN & also a 10 week rotation at the University of MN Veterinary Medical Center. I graduated in 2004 on the Dean’s List and after passing the national and state veterinary technician board exams, I was finally a certified veterinary technician.
I have worked in a couple different clinics since graduating. Each clinic offers continued knowledge and experience with different techniques and procedures. I’m comfortable with large and small animals, including exotics and wildlife.
I’ve made a full circle and in 2013 I have once again returned to Weckwerth Animal Hospital. Now as a lead certified veterinary technician and Inventory Manager.
I spend my time away from work at my home near Franklin Lake. I currently have 2 dogs, 4 cats, 20 chickens (laying hens), 7 ducks, 6 geese, 3 turkeys and 4 guinea hens. Yes! They keep me VERY busy!
SIERRA, CERTIFIED VETERINARY TECHNICIAN
Sierra was born and raised in Ottertail, Minnesota. Growing up she always had multiple pets running around the house. Through out middle and high school Sierra participated in 4-H and FFA, along with other sports and activities.
After high school Sierra took a year of general classes at M-State in Moorhead. After that she took a year off to work. She then attended Ridgewater College in Willmar, Minnesota and graduated in 2018 with an Associates Degree in Veterinary Technology. Since she has worked at several clinics and at a humane society before landing here.
Sierra now lives outside of Elizabeth with her family. Personally she has 1 dog named Flynn, but all together they have 3 dogs, 5 cats, 2 horses and a chinchilla. On her down time Sierra likes to hang out with family and friends playing games, being on the lake and watching crime shows with her family. She is also very interested in the paranormal and is even an amateur investigator.

We share our home with 4 dogs, Nala (yellow lab) Theo (chorkie) Dusty and Bindi (long hair chihuahuas) and 3 cats Kali, Ghost and Hope. Prior to moving to the lake we basically had a funny farm that included goats peacocks rabbits chickens ducks horses and potbellied pigs!
In our spare time besides our kids and animals, we are working on our cabin we call Hallaway Hideaway. I also love art in any form from crocheting to painting to interior design and decorating.
